Disappointment can cause great emotional pain, a pain that we’re sure was very real for the England football team in Euro 2024 as well as tennis players such as Emma Raducanu; no doubt some of our Olympians who have worked so hard to prepare for the Olympics in France will equally experience great disappointment (and success!) over the forthcoming days.

Sometimes we get the impression that if we follow God, nothing will ever go wrong. We have the idea that if we come to Jesus, all our problems will be solved. However, this is not reality, and God never promised that this would be true. The truth is that God promises never to leave us. Jesus calls us to, “remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Mt 28:20). He WILL be with us in the difficulties and disappointments of life, helping us through them, rather than taking us away from them.
