Many of you will have watched the Auschwitz liberation commemoration yesterday. It remains hard to comprehend. Six million murdered by people who believed that this was right, rather than pure evil. I was glad that other genocides were also remembered to remind us that evil still exists in the world.

So, what can we do? One answer could be regularly saying the Lord’s Prayer. You may recognise that the title of this blog comes from this prayer and is seen in all versions of the prayer. It is how Jesus taught us to pray.

Go to your bible and read the prayer for yourself. It can be found in Matthew’s Gospel 6.9–13.

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
