Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. (Proverbs 22:6)

Helping children to pray can be both exciting and challenging. They might close their eyes, but what comes next?

Initially, let children see you praying so they can copy you. Ask them to join in with repetitive parts. Let them say “Thank you” to God for what He has done and “Sorry” for what they have done. You will all have ideas depending on the children you are with.

There are many books that can help with reflection, thankfulness, saying sorry and giving thanks. Share some of these with children and enjoy praying together.
